10-Digit Long Code

What is 10DLC?

10DLC (10-Digit Long Code) is the US system for sending business text messages from standard 10-digit local phone numbers. Businesses must register their brand and messaging campaign through The Campaign Registry before carriers will deliver their texts.

How it works

US carriers treat texts sent by software for a business as application-to-person (A2P) traffic. To send A2P texts from a local number, the business registers its brand, then one or more campaigns describing what it sends and how people opt in.

Registration goes through The Campaign Registry, usually via your messaging provider. Carriers review the campaign and assign throughput limits based on the brand's trust score.

Unregistered business texts are filtered or blocked by carriers. Toll-free numbers follow a separate process called toll-free verification.

Why it matters

01

Delivery

Registered messages reach phones; unregistered ones are increasingly blocked.

02

Throughput

Your registration determines how many messages per second and per day you can send.

03

Trust

The process reduces spam, which keeps business texting effective for everyone.

Allo and 10DLC

Allo handles A2P 10DLC registration for its US numbers, so your team can text customers from a local number.
