Contact Center as a Service

What is CCaaS?

CCaaS (Contact Center as a Service) is cloud software that provides everything a contact center needs, such as call routing, queues, agent desktops and reporting, as a subscription. The provider hosts it, so there is no on-site contact center hardware.

How it works

Calls, chats, emails and messages arrive in the provider's cloud. Routing rules and an ACD place each one in a queue and deliver it to the next available agent with the right skills.

Agents work in a browser or desktop app that shows the customer's history. Supervisors monitor queues live, listen in or barge into calls, and read reports on wait times and resolution.

Most CCaaS platforms add workforce management, quality scoring and, increasingly, AI that summarizes interactions or handles simple requests on its own.

Why it matters

01

Scale up and down

Add agents for a busy season without buying hardware or lines.

02

Remote teams

Agents can work from anywhere with a browser and a headset.

03

Visibility

Live queue data and reports show where customers wait and why.

Allo and CCaaS

Allo is not a full CCaaS suite. It is a phone system for sales and support teams, with call routing, shared lines, recording, transcription and team analytics.
