Can I port my number?

Yes, you can port US, Canadian, and most international numbers, including toll-free (800, 833, 844, 855, 866, 877, 888) and landline numbers.

How much it cost?

Porting is completely free with Allo. Your ported number is included in your existing plan at no extra monthly fee. Your current carrier may charge an early termination or port-out fee, so check your contract before initiating.

How long it takes?

It depends on your carrier and number type. In the US and Canada: mobile numbers take 2 to 4 business days, landlines 7 to 10 business days, and toll-free numbers 7 to 14 business days.

Process

How it works

Five simple steps, all managed by our team. You keep your number, we handle the carrier.

01

Fill out the porting form

Go to porting.withallo.com and submit your details. You'll need your account number, billing name and address, port-out PIN, and a recent invoice from your current carrier.

02

We handle everything with your carrier

Our team contacts your current provider and initiates the transfer on your behalf. We generate and submit your Letter of Authorization (LOA). Multiple numbers can be listed on a single LOA.

03

Verification and scheduling

We coordinate with your carrier and provide a confirmed transfer date. See status updates as your request moves through each stage: submitted, accepted, scheduled.

You can request a preferred date, though it is not always guaranteed.
04

Prepare 24 hours before

The day before your port, your number appears in your Allo account. Use that window to configure your settings, call routing, voicemail, and AI Receptionist so everything is ready on day one.

05

Activation day

Your number goes live with zero downtime. Log in, open and close the app once to make sure everything is working smoothly. Do not cancel your current service until you receive our confirmation that the port is complete.

Note: outgoing SMS can be delayed up to 48 hours after cutover as routing updates across carriers.

Frequently
Asked Questions

How much does porting cost?

Porting is completely free with Allo. Your ported number is included in your existing plan at no extra monthly fee. Your current carrier may charge an early termination or port-out fee, so check your contract before initiating.

What types of numbers are eligible?

You can port US, Canadian, and most international numbers, including toll-free (800, 833, 844, 855, 866, 877, 888) and French mobile (06/07) and landline numbers. We confirm portability within 24 hours of receiving your form. Some VoIP restrictions vary by provider.

How long does the porting process take?

It depends on your carrier and number type. In the US and Canada: mobile numbers take 2 to 4 business days, landlines 7 to 10 business days, and toll-free numbers 7 to 14 business days. French numbers: landlines 10 to 15 business days, mobile numbers about 1 week. We keep you updated throughout.

Can I use my number while porting is in progress?

Yes. You can use your current number as normal all the way until the cutover date. Most users experience no service disruption. We also recommend getting a temporary Allo number for testing while you wait.

Do my texts and call history transfer too?

No. Your previous call history and text conversations do not carry over during porting. Export anything you want to keep from your old provider before the cutover date. You can easily import and sync contacts to Allo.
