Running a business from your personal phone

Most small businesses start on the owner's mobile. It works until the team grows and the calls start slipping.

01

Your personal number is the business line

Customers call you at dinner and on weekends, and nobody else on the team can pick up for you.

02

Calls ring out while you work

On a job, in a meeting, on the road: the call goes to voicemail and the customer calls the next business.

03

Nothing is written down

What the customer asked, what you promised, when to call back. It lives in your head until it doesn't.

5 reasons small teams pick Allo as their business phone system

What changes when the business line stops being one person's mobile.

1. Calls that come through clear, on our own network

A personal mobile and a desk line

A personal mobile drops calls in a bad spot, and a desk line only rings in one room.

Allo

Allo runs its own VoIP infrastructure, so your business line rings clearly on every phone, at the office, at home or on the road.

2. You choose who answers, and when

A personal mobile and a desk line

On a personal phone, every call rings you. There are no hours, no team and no menu.

Allo

Set business hours, ring the team at once or in turn, and add a phone menu yourself, in the app.

3. AI that does the work after each call

A personal mobile and a desk line

A small team has no one to write the notes, send the follow-up and update the CRM. So it rarely happens.

Allo

After each call, Allo writes the summary, drafts the follow-up and updates your CRM.

Included in every paid Allo seat.

4. Keep your number, with no downtime

A personal mobile and a desk line

Your number is on the van, the website and every invoice. Losing it is not an option.

Allo

Porting is free, and your current line keeps ringing until your number is live on Allo.

5. $32 a seat, no hardware

Allo

Add an AI receptionist to your business line

It picks up when your team can't, 24/7. Every card plays a real call.

Try it for free

It transfers to the right person

When the call needs a person, it goes to whoever can act on it, with the history already open.

It books the job

It reads your own calendar, offers the slots that are really free and books the job before the caller hangs up.

It remembers the caller

A number that rang last week does not start over. It picks up with the history in front of it.

It knows your business

You tell it your services, prices and area in plain words. It answers like someone who works there.

Questions about business phone systems

Something else? Our team answers the phone, obviously.

The best phone system for a small business is one the team can run without IT: it works on the mobiles and laptops you already have, lets you change hours and routing yourself, and costs a flat price per user. Today that usually means a cloud phone system rather than desk phones and a PBX. Allo is built for that, and adds AI that answers when nobody can and writes up every call.

Often, yes. Many US carriers open business accounts with an EIN, though some still ask for a personal credit check or guarantee from the owner, especially for a new business, so check with your carrier. You may not need a second device at all: with Allo, your business number runs in an app on the phone you already carry. For business texting in the US, carriers do ask for your business details, such as your EIN, to register the line.

A classic 3-line system is a desk handset with three line buttons. With a cloud phone system, three lines are simply three numbers in one app. On Allo, each seat comes with a number, and extra numbers start at $5 each a month, so one person can answer a sales line, a support line and a local number from the same mobile or laptop.

It depends on the type. Cloud phone systems are usually billed per user per month, and the total moves with seats, numbers and add-ons. On-premise systems add handsets, installation and a maintenance contract upfront. Allo is $32 per user per month billed annually, or $45 month to month, with recording, transcripts, AI summaries and CRM sync in every seat. The AI receptionist ($32 a month per agent) and the power dialer ($50 a month per team) are add-ons. See pricing.

Yes. Porting is free, and your current line keeps ringing until the port completes, so there is no downtime. New numbers are available in 80+ countries. Plan the switch with us.

Yes. Every paid plan syncs natively with HubSpot, Salesforce, Pipedrive, Attio and more. Calls and AI summaries land on the contact in your CRM. See integrations.
