When nobody can pick up, Allo texts the caller back instantly from your business number. You write the message, they reply, and your team carries on the conversation.

What an unanswered call still costs you

A caller who hears a voicemail greeting rarely leaves a message. Most just try the next business.

01

The caller hangs up and moves on

Nobody picks up, the voicemail plays, and the lead calls someone else before you see the missed call.

02

Evenings and lunch breaks go silent

Calls that land when you're closed get no answer at all, and nobody follows up the next morning.

Auto-replies stuck on one phone

A personal phone's auto-reply goes out from a personal number, and the conversation stays on that one phone.

5 reasons to run your SMS auto reply on Allo

What changes when the text back comes from your business line, not from somebody's phone.

1. Calls and texts that come through, on our own network

A personal phone's auto-reply

An auto-reply on a personal phone depends on that one phone: its battery, its signal and its settings.

Allo

Allo runs its own VoIP infrastructure, and your business line follows your team on desktop and mobile.

2. You set the hours and the message

A personal phone's auto-reply

On a personal phone, the auto-reply and the hours it covers are whatever each person set up, if they did.

Allo

Write the auto-reply yourself and set your business hours, lunch breaks included, in the app.

3. AI that does the work after each call

A personal phone's auto-reply

A text back starts the conversation. The notes, the follow-up and the CRM are still somebody's afternoon.

Allo

When you talk to that caller, Allo writes the summary, drafts the follow-up and updates your CRM.

Included in every paid Allo seat.

4. Keep your number, with no downtime

A personal phone's auto-reply

Customers already have your number. Changing it to get an auto-reply would cost you the calls you want to catch.

Allo

Porting is free, and your current line keeps ringing until your numbers are live on Allo.

5. $32 a seat, text-back included

Text-back tools often bill per message, on top of the phone system you already pay for.

Allo

$32 a user a month on Allo Business, billed yearly. In the US and Canada, add a one-time $24 10DLC registration, then no per-message fee for the auto-reply.

When a text back isn't enough, let the AI pick up

An AI receptionist answers the calls your team can't, 24/7. Every card plays a real call.

Try it for free

It transfers to the right person

When the call needs a person, it goes to whoever can act on it, with the history already open.

It books the job

It reads your own calendar, offers the slots that are really free and books the job before the caller hangs up.

It remembers the caller

A number that rang last week does not start over. It picks up with the history in front of it.

It knows your business

You tell it your services, prices and area in plain words. It answers like someone who works there.

Questions about SMS auto reply

Something else? Our team answers the phone, obviously.

On a personal iPhone or Android phone, it depends on the phone maker and the messaging app: some offer an automatic reply tied to a driving or focus mode, others don't. For a business, Allo does it on your business number: the moment a call goes unanswered, Allo automatically texts the caller back, and their reply lands in your shared inbox. Start a free trial.

In Allo, turn on missed-call text-back, write your message (or keep ours), and set your business hours. From then on, every unanswered call gets your text, sent from your business number. In the US and Canada, you first complete a one-time 10DLC registration ($24), self-serve from your Allo settings.

Messaging apps like iMessage or RCS chat need both phones to support them and to be online. When the other phone can't receive them, for example because it has no data connection or the feature is turned off, the message usually falls back to a plain SMS. SMS works on almost any phone, which is also why a business auto-reply goes out by SMS.

Short, signed, and with a next step. For a missed call: "Hi, it's Maple Street Dental. Sorry we missed your call. How can we help? Reply here and we'll get right back to you." After hours: "Thanks for calling Maple Street Dental. We're closed right now and back at 9am. Reply with what you need and we'll answer first thing."

Automatic texting is on the Business plan, $32 per user per month billed annually or $45 month to month. In the US and Canada, add a one-time $24 10DLC registration; after that the auto-reply itself has no per-message fee. See pricing.

Yes. You pick the auto-reply language per number: English, French or Spanish. Running a Spanish line? The text back goes out in Spanish.

Yes. Set your business hours, lunch breaks included, and Allo sends your reply automatically when you're closed or away. If the whole team is offline, calls can also fall back to voicemail or the AI receptionist (an add-on).
