Sort your calls and texts by job, not by number
A personal inbox is your own view of the calls and texts you follow, across lines and phone menu options. Calls still ring exactly as before.

Inboxes, inside Allo
Five ways teams use them
Each person can have up to 50 inboxes. They're personal: creating, editing or muting one never changes what your teammates see.
Read the launch postYour main number plays "Press 1 for Sales, 2 for Support". Each person picks the line, chooses "Only part of it" and ticks their option. No more forwarding menu options to other lines just to sort who sees what.
Answer the main number, the support line and your direct line? Put all three in one inbox and stop flipping between numbers. One inbox can also follow a whole line plus a single option from another line.
Filter an inbox on the "To call back" tag and match on the latest call. When you call the customer back, the conversation leaves the list. Tags work across lines, whether Allo's AI added them or a teammate did.
Inboxes never change who a call rings: the call flow decides that. Lines you own or whose call flow rings you notify you as always, until you mute the line. "Notify me" is set per inbox, so you can keep a broad inbox quiet and still get pinged on your own lines.
The first time, Allo sets up inboxes from how you work: keep them, edit them or undo. Then it suggests new ones from the menu options that ring you and the lines you used this month.
One list per line
versus one list per job
Without inboxes
Every line is its own list, checked one by one
Menu options forwarded to other lines just to sort who sees what
A callback list someone has to clean up by hand
Muting a line for some quiet, and missing what matters
With personal inboxes
Several lines and menu options in one list
A Sales or Support inbox per person, no forwarding
A "To call back" list that empties itself
Notify me per inbox, and calls that ring you still ring
Personal by design
Routing stays with the team
Ringing is a routing decision, made once for the whole team. What you watch is personal. Inboxes keep the two apart.
Yours, up to 50
Each person has their own inboxes. Deleting one removes the view, never the conversations.
The call flow still decides
Mute every inbox you have and a call routed to you still rings. One conversation in a line and an inbox notifies you once.
Set up for a teammate
Admins and managers can create an inbox for a teammate with Allo MCP, so a new hire opens Allo to a ready "Support" inbox. There's an Inboxes API too.

No. The call flow decides who a call rings, exactly as before. Inboxes only change what you see. Mute every inbox you have, and a call routed to you still rings.

Yes. Pick the line, choose "Only part of it" and tick the options you follow. Ticking an option follows everything under it. Texts never go through the menu, so tick "Texts and callers who pressed nothing" to keep them in view.
Inboxes add notifications, they never take one away. Lines you own or whose call flow rings you notify you as always, until you mute the line. Each inbox also notifies you for the conversations it shows. "Notify me" is set per inbox, so you can keep a broad inbox quiet and still get pinged on your own lines. When a line and an inbox cover the same conversation, you get one notification. @mentions and thread replies always reach you.
Up to 50 inboxes per person. Through the Inboxes API, an inbox can have up to 100 sources.
Yes. Admins and managers can set up an inbox for a teammate with Allo MCP. It belongs to the teammate. There's also an Inboxes API.
Personal inboxes are live for every Allo team in the desktop and web app. Mobile isn't there yet. Read the launch post.
