What a desk phone still costs your team

A handset on a desk ties your business number to one spot. Your team stopped working from one spot a while ago.

01

The number is stuck on a desk

Calls ring a handset in the office. Away from it, the team misses them or the caller lands in voicemail.

02

Personal mobiles fill the gap

So people call customers from their own number. When they leave, the conversations and the contacts leave with them.

03

Nothing gets logged

No recording, no transcript, no CRM note. What the customer said is only in somebody's memory.

5 reasons to make Allo your softphone

What changes when your business line lives in an app instead of a handset.

1. Clear calls, on our own network

Desk phones

A basic softphone app is only as good as the provider behind it, and a handset only works where its cable goes.

Allo

Allo runs its own VoIP infrastructure, so the softphone on your laptop and your mobile rings on the same reliable line.

2. You choose who answers, and when

Desk phones

On a desk phone, hours, routing and the phone menu are set by an installer or an IT ticket.

Allo

Set business hours, call routing and your phone menu yourself, in the same app you take calls in.

3. AI that does the work after each call

Desk phones

A softphone that only dials stops at the call. The notes, the follow-up and the CRM are still on you.

Allo

After each call, Allo writes the summary, drafts the follow-up and updates your CRM.

Included in every paid Allo seat.

4. We move your numbers, with no downtime

Desk phones

Switching to a softphone means moving your numbers, and a port that goes wrong means calls nobody gets.

Allo

Porting is free, and your current line keeps ringing until your numbers are live on Allo.

5. $32 a seat, no handset to buy

Desk phones

Desk phones mean a handset per desk, a maintenance contract and a quote for every new hire.

Allo

$32 a user a month on Allo Business, billed yearly, with no seat minimum. The softphone runs on the laptop and the mobile your team already has.

Recording, transcripts, AI summaries and CRM sync in every seat.

Add an AI receptionist to your softphone

Your line picks up when nobody can, 24/7. Every card plays a real call.

Try it for free

It transfers to the right person

When the call needs a person, it goes to whoever can act on it, with the history already open.

It books the job

It reads your own calendar, offers the slots that are really free and books the job before the caller hangs up.

It remembers the caller

A number that rang last week does not start over. It picks up with the history in front of it.

It knows your business

You tell it your services, prices and area in plain words. It answers like someone who works there.

Questions about softphones

Something else? Our team answers the phone, obviously.

A softphone is software that makes and receives phone calls over the internet, on a computer or a mobile, instead of a physical desk phone. You talk through your headset or your phone's microphone, and your business number comes with you. Allo is a softphone and the full phone system behind it: routing, phone menus, texts, recording and AI summaries.

It can be. Out of the box, Teams calls other Teams users. To make and receive regular phone calls, an organisation adds a Teams Phone licence and connects a calling plan or a phone operator. Once that is in place, the Teams app works as a softphone.

Business softphones are usually billed per user per month, with the number and calls included or added on top. Free softphone apps exist, but they still need a provider for the line. Allo costs $32 per user per month billed annually, or $45 month to month, with recording, transcripts, AI summaries and CRM sync in every seat. The AI receptionist ($32 a month per agent) and the power dialer ($50 a month per team) are add-ons. See pricing.

Allo is one: a desktop app, a browser version and iOS and Android apps, all on the same business line. Other common examples are the softphone apps that VoIP providers give their customers, the calling features built into collaboration tools, and free SIP clients that connect to an existing phone system.

No hardware to buy. Any headset works with the desktop app and the browser, and on the go you take calls in the Allo mobile app with the phone you already carry.
